Trust & Safety

How we ensure every review on BeHonest is real, tamper-proof, and permanently on the record.

A BeHonest review cannot be faked, bought, altered, or removed. Once a verified review exists, it exists permanently.

That is not a marketing promise. It is an architectural one — built into how every review is created, recorded, and stored.

How we guarantee integrity

BeHonest's trust model has three layers: who left the review, where they were, and whether the record can ever be changed.

01

Identity is verified before anything else

Every reviewer completes a KYC process before they can leave a single review. One real person, one account. No anonymous submissions, no fake profiles, no duplicate identities.

02

Physical presence is confirmed in real time

GPS, QR code scan, Bluetooth proximity, and NFC triangulation work together to confirm the reviewer was physically inside the establishment at the time of the visit. Estimated verification accuracy: ~95%.

03

Every review gets a cryptographic ID

Once a review passes all verification layers, it is sealed with a unique cryptographic identifier — permanently linking it to the verified reviewer, device, location, and timestamp. This ID cannot be altered, reissued, or forged.

04

Reviews are tamper-resistant by design

The cryptographic record is stored server-side and cannot be modified after creation — not by the reviewer, not by the business, and not by us. The review you see is exactly the review that was submitted.

05

AI moderation — without censorship

Every review passes through an independent AI moderation layer to check for abusive language and policy violations. This is not sentiment filtering — negative reviews that comply with our terms are published in full, automatically.

06

Businesses have no influence over reviews

Businesses cannot accept, reject, hide, report, or contact reviewers. They can see their reviews and respond publicly. That is the full extent of their control.

What we never do

Some things BeHonest will not do regardless of who asks — and why that matters for everyone on the platform.

We don't remove negative reviews

A verified negative review is a real customer experience. It stays. Businesses cannot pay to suppress it, and we won't remove it on request.

We don't gate reviews

There is no accept/reject system. Verified reviews publish automatically. No cherry-picking who gets published.

We don't let businesses contact reviewers

Reviewer identity is never shared with the business under any circumstances. This protects reviewers from pressure or retaliation.

We don't sell placement

Advertising on BeHonest cannot buy a higher ranking, a better position in search, or priority in listings. Rankings are earned through verified reviews only.

We don't alter review scores

Your True Rating™ is a direct calculation from verified reviews. We do not weight, adjust, or manipulate scores on behalf of any business.

We don't accept unverified reviews

If a review cannot be cryptographically linked to a verified visit, it does not appear on BeHonest. Not partially. Not with a disclaimer. Not at all.

The life of a review

From the moment a customer scans your QR code to the moment a review becomes part of the permanent record.

1

Customer scans QR code on-site

GPS, Bluetooth, and NFC confirm physical presence at the registered business location in real time.

2

Dwell time threshold is met

The customer must remain on-site for a category-specific minimum dwell time. A 30-second visit to a restaurant does not count.

3

A single-use cryptographic token is issued

This token is mathematically tied to the identity, device, location, and timestamp. It expires within minutes and cannot be transferred or reused.

4

Customer writes and submits the review

The token travels with the submission. If the token is missing, expired, or invalid — automatic rejection, no exceptions.

5

AI moderation layer runs

Checks for abusive language and policy violations only. Negative sentiment is not a violation. Critical reviews publish in full.

6

Review goes live — permanently

The cryptographic ID is sealed. The review is immutable. It contributes to the True Rating™ for 6 months, then becomes part of the historical record — still visible, no longer scored.

7

After 6 months and 1 day: historical status

The review remains fully visible to the public but is no longer counted in the business's active True Rating™. Transparency without penalising businesses for old incidents they've resolved.
